S.P. May p.131 Rev EH Sears says: "Paul Sears married a worthy lady of Marblehead, who died giving birth to twins, in the absence of her husband. On his return, finding his wife and babes all dead, he left the country broken-hearted, went to Nova Scotia, and was not heard of afterward." Paul Sears of Marblehead was granted 200 acres, Hallowell, 18 May 1774.
In the history of Winthrop, he is called "a cooper from Cape Cod."
The soldiers' monument there was placed over his grave, but his grave-stone if he had one, is missing.MBS Reportedly all children were born in Winthrop, ME. The French fairly well kept the English out of what is now Maine near Penobscot until 1750 and that part of the Mass Colony now known as Maine did not become a separate state until 1820. Paul made barrels and wagon wheels.
