over the household and lived with her father until his death in 1905. About
1910 she took a course at the Simmons College of Boston in the School for
Social Work. She became a resident of the Rutland Street Branch of the South
End Settlement House, which was under the direction of Mr Robert A Woods, one
of the nation's leading social workers. After a number of years in Boston she
moved to New York City. Then after a serious illness in 1956 she went to live
in Portland, ME, at the home of her cousin, Miss Elizabeth White.

!BRS He moved to NYC in 1887 where he worked as a doorman and later general
salesman for wholesale and dry goods firm of James H Dunham & Co., corner of
Worth and Broadway. He and his wife returned to live at the Winslow home in
Bennington on 1 May 1924. He died after an illness following a stroke. In the
Bennington Banner it says he married Nettie Joy, daughter of Edwin Joy and also
Nettie L. Keys.
From a letter: Dear Harry and Eleanor - The August 29th, 1928 Banner records
the death of George B Sears. Among other things the obituary mentioned his
cheerful disposition. He is survived by his wife, one son Duane H Sears of
Brooklyn, one grandaughter and three grandsons.

George married Antoinette L "Nettie" Joy, daughter of Edwin Joy and Nettie L Keyes, on 11 May 1869 in Momence, IL. Antoinette was born 1850 in . She died 1928.

!BRS He was also a carpenter and master cabinet maker. He fell in love with
Harriet Robinson Harrington ( who was his second cousin, once removed) whose
father was strongly opposed to her marrying at all. They were married at the
home of her uncle. A few years later he was employed by one of the Harrisburg,
PA area steel companies as a carpenter in the company houses of Steelton. At a
family outing to one of the isalnds in the Susquehanna River, everyone was
drenched in a rainstorm. Upon returning home Walter spent time building a fire
to warm the rest of the family, ignoring his own needs to keep warm and dry.
Pneumonia set in, and he died a few weeks later.
Among his accomplishments as a woodworker was the building of a scale model
of the Harrisburg Trolley which we pullled around and played in. The
Kennebunk, ME Trolley Museum has it now.

Walter married Harriet Robinson Harrington, daughter of Moses Harrington and Sarah Ann Robinson, on 22 Oct 1885 in Wilmington, NC. Harriet was born 14 Oct 1850 in Bennington, VT. She died 24 Nov 1938 in Newton, MA.

Ben R. Sears, Jr. dates She was a member of the class of 1872 at Vassar
College (the "first graduating class") and when widowed, began work as a
teacher. In her early years she was required to teach Greek even though she
had no background in it. She enrolled in a course in the language and was
usually only a few days ahead of her students. She returned to Bennington a
few years after her husbands death to live and raise her two children.
