ancestor is Jacob Goodrich (09\21\1755-after 1833). He served in the
Rev. War out of Lenox, MA but lived in Saratoga County, NY by 1810
census and at time of his pension files-1833. His wife was Bethiah. He
had two known brothers: Lemuel who died during war and Allen who was
buried Ballston Spa in 1835.

1991. Naomi Sears (Seth , James , Silas , Silas , Richard ) was born 23 Sep 1764 in prob Southeast, Dutchess, NY. She died 30 Mar 1846 in Winfield, Herkimer, NY and was buried in N Winfield, NY.
Ruth G Pickard The search for Naomi Sears' parents has been long and
frustrating. She is clearly referred to in two separate Bible records as the
wife of Zadock Rider. Her birth is recorded as 23 Sep 1764. Her father is
most certainly Seth Sears.
In regard to the family of Seth and Sarah (Sears) Sears in the May
Gebnealogy, there are several descrapancies. First of all, there is a
tremendous gap bewteen the birth of their first child Enoch Hamlin ca. 1760 and
the birth of their next listed child, Seth, to whom Samuel May assigns a ca.
1771 birthdate. A record of the family of Seth Sears, Jr., formerly in
possession of Porter Barrows of Sherburne, NY, and published by the James
Madison Chapter, DAR (NY DAR Church Cemetery and Town Records v. 123, p.88),
says Seth Sears 3rd was born in South East Town, Dutchess County, State of New
York, August 11th 176_(page torn). Ruamy Andress was born in Greeenfield,
Fairfield co, CT, 24 Jan 17__ (Page torn). Although the date of Seth's birth
is incomplete , it obviously did not take place in 1771, as May surmises. The
Foster-Livingston Collection of Putnam co Records quotes the tombstone
inscription in Milltown Cemetery as follows: "The graves of Seth and Rheuhamah,
he died May 1, 1819, 48 y, and she died Dec 9, 1813, 31y." This is the
apparent source of May's 1771 birthdate.
However, the Bible fragment referred to above is at odds with the date on the
tombstone and gives Seth's death date as May 1, 1817. This accords with thedate on which his will was entered into porbate-- 16 May 1817. If Seth was
indeed 48 years old when he died, he would have to have been born in 1769 and
not 1771.
This leaves Seth and Sarah's "third" child Eleazar H. with a birthdate of
1771, which seems entirely reasonable. Sarah Sears, their "fourth" child, has
no birthdate assigned, and their last child, Thankful, about whom a
considerable amount of accurate informationis given, was born on 30 Jun 1775.
In regard to the birthdate of Sarah, the International Genealogical Index,
published by the LDS Church, gives a birthdate of 24 Mar 1767, for Sarah Sears
but does not assign her any parents. A marriage to Thomas Randall in November,
1787, is also listed for Sarah Sears, but again no aprents are listed.
However, it seem slikely that this is Seth's daughter.
If the family births are arranged according to the inforamtiuon given above,
we arrive at a much more reasonable birth order and spacing than theone given
by May.BURIED: Cemetery (abandoned)

1992. Sarah Sears (Seth , James , Silas , Silas , Richard ) was born 24 Mar 1767 in Southeast, Dutchess, NY. She died 26 Sep 1860 and was buried in Columbus, PA.
Mrs Charles N (Madeline) Dodd- The 1790 census of Dutchess co, NY shows four
families named Sears (Seth, Seth Jr., Benjamin and Stephen). In the 1830
census of Warren co, PA, there was a James Sears living near Zacheus & Sarah
Raymond, no connection known.BURIED: Curtis Cemetery
Sarah married Zacheus Raymond on Nov 1787 in , Dutchess co, NY. Zacheus was born Jan 1766 in Norwalk, CT. He died 9 Dec 1844 in Columbus, Warren, PA.
Madeline Dodd - Samuel Raymond's genealogy shows Zacheus disappearing into
Nova Scotia after the War in the write-up under his father, Comfort, yet in
Zacheus' own paragraph, he supposedly "lived and died in Chenango co, NY,"
where his wife "lived to a very advanced age, dying about 1853," and "had two
children, Enoch and Lewis." Leach (who update Samuel's work) seemed unaware
that Zacheus had ever lived anywhere but CT and PA. In fact, he was living in
Dutchess co, NY on the 1790 census, and was listed in Chenango co, NY in 1810
and 1820. There was a Zachariah Raymond in Herkimer co in 1800, which was the
parent county of Chenango and it's almost certain that Zachariah and Zacheus
are the same person.
In May 1780 Zacheus enlisted in the Continental Army as Private, for a period of three months following which he reenlisted for another three months and again in 1781 for six months and twenty days as a teamster. He was under the command of Capt Couch and Colonel Canfield in the State of CT. At Zacheus' death, he was buried on his own farm on a hillside just off US Rt 6. Since his burial, a large cherry tree has grown above the grave, which is
surrounded by a metal fence.BIRTH: Darwin Everett Leach, HISTORY OF ZACHEUS RAYMOND; 1630-1929; Corry, PA, 1932; p 1 ; copy in poss of Ray Sears; The origin of the family name, RAYMOND, dates back to the year 240, before given names were used. It starts with Raymond the 1st, Count of Toulouse, which was long before Germany, France or Spain were separate countries. Richard Raymond and his wife Judith were members of FIrst Church, Salem, MA. In 1660 he sold one quarter part of "THE GOOD KETCH," called the Hopewell of Salem, of the burthen of thirty tons, now being or riding at anchor in the harbor of Boston. 20 October 1662 he purchased a house and land at Norwalk CT. His children were all baptised in the First Church, Salem. The line to Zacheus is not clear bit appears to go John, Thomas, Comfort, Comfort.
Little is known of Zacheus' early life which was spent on a farm (in CT).
After the war he reomved to Columbus, PA where he resided on a farm until his
death.
Zacheus and Sarah had the following children:
+ 4181 M i Lewis Napoleon Raymond 4182 M ii Harvey Raymond was born 1790 in <, NY>. 4183 M iii Enoch Raymond was born 1792 in <, NY>. Enoch married Living + 4184 M iv Seth Sears Raymond 4185 F v Matilda Raymond was born 1800 in <, NY>.
Madeline Dodd - In Columbus Cemetery, Chenango co, NY, there is a Mary Howard,
wife of Whipple R Howard, who died 4 May 1842, aged 44 yrs, the daughter of
Zacheus Raymond. They had two children in the census of 1820, both boys. Is
she a previously unknown daughter or Matilda? Note also that her brother Lewis
married a Howard.

Subject: John Sears descendant
Hello ray. I viewed your site by way of the Onondaga County, New York
website, and appreciate the info. I also am a direct descendant of
Richard Sears. My great grandfather was Jacob Sears Ladu, who's
grandmother was Tamma Sears, daughter of John Sears (born 1772),
son of Knowles Sears, etc. etc. I recently discovered that
John Sears sister, Elizabeth Comfort Sears (Betty) was married to a
Nathan Hawley and lived in Albany, New York. There was a painting made of her and her husband and eight of their children (I think they had 10 or
twelve). The eighth child was in her lap. This painting is
hanging in an Art Gallery in Albany, New York and was painted by a man named
Wilkie.
I will enjoy reading the rest of your information at your site.
When was the painting of Richard supposed to have been made?
