In his early days he was a great hunter, and killed many deer on the hills
about Newark Valley.
He joined the "Washingtonians" in 1840; was baptized and joined the Cong. Ch.
in Newark Valley, 2 Jan 1859.

Charles married Cynthia Marie Williams, daughter of Oliver Williams and Freelove Newell. Cynthia was born 10 Apr 1810 in and was christened 1 Nov 1820.
