admired wherever her first husband's duties took him, be it Washington, Vatican

good measure of elegance. She was brought up in the Sears town house on Beacon
Hill and at the family summer house in Beverly, on the grounds of which she and
Lodge built their own house. She attended finishing schools in Paris and was
graduated from Miss May's School - now the Brimmer & May School. She was
presented to Boston society at a dance at her parents' house.

after 21 year Lapse, by Alfred E Clark. Henry Sears, a real-estate investment
executive and former commodore of the New York Yacht Club, died of cancer

Mr Sears, who came from a prominent New England maritime family, served as
commodore from 1955 to 1956 and had been a member of the club since 1936.
While commodore, Mr Sears was responsible for the revival in 1958 of the
America's Cup yachting competition by bringing about a change that permitted
smaller craft to compete. The competition resumed after an absence of 21 years
with yachts of the 12-Meter Class, which at 68 feet were half the size of the
J-Class yachts that had sailed in challenges from 1920 to 1937.
In 1958, Mr Sears headed a six-man new York Yaht Club syndicate that was
victorious with its 12-Meter sloop Columbia, which outsailed the British yacht
Sceptre in the 17th challenge match for the cup. In 1957, he was the first
recipient of te nathaniel G Herreshoff Trophy for outstanding contributions to
North American sailing.

to Chestertown following his retirement. He had been a senior partner of Sears
& Griswold, a real-estate company, which merged in 1937 with Webb & Knapp. Mr
Sears sold his interest in 1952 and formed Henry Sears & Company, a
venture-capital company in New York, and retired in 1972. He pursued an
interest in farming and operated farms in Chestertown and Albany, Ga.

Massachusetts. In World War II he was an officer in the Navy. He served as a
