She died Jan. 8, 1748, and Joseph Sears of Har., adm. on her estate Mar 10

Jonathan Sears was divided by Danl Hall, Elisha Bassett, Theo. Crosby and
Joseph Howes, Jr., who set off to the eldest son Jonathan, deceased; to Joseph, and to Prince; the widow and other children being then all deceased.
Joseph Hawes in his will 1752, names "Jonathan, Joseph and Prince Sears, sons of my daughter Elizabeth Sears."
In the "Sears Gen'y," her name is erroneously given as Sarah.

Jonathan married Elizabeth Hawes on 29 Jun 1721 in Yarmouth. Elizabeth was born 7 Nov 1697 in . She died 8 Jan 1748/1749 and was buried in Ancient Cemetery, W Brewster, MA.

45. Joshua Sears (Samuel , Paul , Richard ) was born 3 May 1697 in Harwich, Barnstable, MA. He died 21 Jul 1754 in Norwalk, CT.

S P May, p 73, No 29, b., m., d. About 1714, Joshua Sears built and lived in the old house in West Brewster, at Bound Brook, nearly opposite the ancient Sears buring ground; and here in the SE corner room the first seven of his children, including Isaac Sears, the famous "Liberty Boy" of the Revolutionary period, were born.
He removed to Norwalk, CT, about the year 1734, (not 1724, as stated in Sears Genealogy) and was dismissed from the church in Har., to Ch. Norwalk, Mar 28 1736.
His estate in Har.was sold to Willard Sears of Yarmouth, and is still in possession of some of his descendants. It was occupied until 1880, by Miss Vienna Sears, and has since been renovated, and additions made thereto.
In 1732, Joshua Sears purchased of his brother-in-law, Josiah Thacher, Jr.,
one acre of the so-called "Home Lot", situated on Washington Avenue, South
Norwalk, and marked on the plan in Hall's "Norwalk" with the names of C. Raymond and W. Raymond; and in the house which he built upon htis spot he lived until his death in 1752.
The house of Mrs. Charles Raymond, his great-gr-dau., had for foundation stone those taken from the old homestead.
The thacher house stood where the Pottery is marked on Hall's map.
Joshua Sears possessed other lands in Norwalk, which at various times he deeded to his children; amongst which was land at "Old Well", now South Norwalk, to his sons Nathaniel and Joshua.
Family tradition relates that he was an excellent man, a prominent citizen,
occupying various positions in the gift of the town, a good husband and a generous father.
He was buried in Pine Island Cemetery, a blue stone marking his grave; - nearby is a similar memorial to his son Nathaniel, and a nameless mound between father and son, is probably the grave of the wife and mother.
His will, dated June 11, 1754, was proved OCtober 15, 1754, and mentions wife Mary; and children, Josiah, Mary Ketchum, Phebe Squires, Joshua, Isac, John and Anthony; and grand-sons, Nathaniel and Thacher. The estate was appraised at L 1640.
In the "Sears Gen'y," his wife is erroneously stated to have been Mercy, dau. of John Thacher.
I find no record of her death, but her estate was adm. upon by her son Isaac, July 25, 1761.

Joshua married Mary Thacher on 17 Sep 1719 in Yarmouth. Mary was born 1698 in .

S.P. May p.75, No 127, Is mentioned in his father's will in 1754. Stephen Sayre, the American banker, and in 1774 sheriff of London (of the Southampton, L.I. family of Sayre - Thomas & Job Sayre of Lynn, MA and Southampton, L.I. were sons of Frances Sears of Leighton Buzzard, co Beds, Engd), writing to Isaac Sears, 17 Feb 1764, desires "to be remembered to bro John."
A John Sears was married in Trinity Ch., NY, 24 Oct 1780, to Sarah Halstead, who may be this John, but was perhaps a son of Col Isaac Sears (no. 125), who had long been a member of that church. Some of the name settled in Virginia circa 1750.
293 M ix Anthony Sears was born 1737 in Norwalk, CT. He died after 1754.

S P May, p 75, No 127, b. place is mentioned in his father's will in 1754

46. Judah Sears (Samuel , Paul , Richard ) was born 29 Oct 1699 in Harwich, Barnstable, MA. He died about 1776 in Rochester, MA.

S P May, p 76, No 30, Judah Sears' house at "Punkhorn," Harwich, now West Brewster, was standing recently on the old raod from the mill brook to Dennis east of the house of Jeremiah Walker, and on the northside of this was a very ancient structure, now much dilapidted, and has been said to be the oldest house in Brewster. It is two stories in front, and one in the rear, and was occupied about 1863, by Capt. David Sears in Dennis, No. 1812, he swivel maker.
It is probable that the house of Capt. John Sears in Dennis, is the oldest of the Sears houses now remaining, and that of Joshua Sears in Brewster, the next; Judah Sears' being the third in point of age.
In the locality known as "Punkhorn," the manufacture of lampblack was carried on to some extent formerly, and a cart drawn by one ox, used for transporting the lampblack, was known as "the Punkhorn stage."
In the allotment of pews in the 2d Ch., Yar., Aug 24, 1761, Mr. Judah Sears
had 1/4 right hand door, at L 53 10 0 old tenor.
He removed to Rochester, MA with his family, and joined the church there in
1769, being then "near 70 years old." He was chosen Tything man in Roch., in
1764-7.
His will dated Feb 5, 1773, was proved Sep 2, 1776, and mentions his wife Mary sons, Alden, Nathan, Judah, David and Richard; and daus. Ann Gage, wife of Anthony Gage; Mary Hatch, wife of Jona Hatch; Alice Church, wife of Charles Church, and Sarah Sears. Judah Sears was Execr.

Judah married Mary Paddock, daughter of Judah Paddock Capt and Alice (Else) Alden, on Nov 1731 in Yarmouth, MA. Mary was born 5 Mar 1714 in .
