admitted to Church E Yar, 30 Apr 1775, and dismissed to Ch. Hawley, 12 Apr 1795.
He settled soon after 1786, on the north line of town, where Lewis W. Temple was living in 1887.
He was in Capt Benj Berry's Co., and marched on alarm at Bedford and Falmouth, 7 Sep 1778, serving 7 days, and travelling 112 miles.

Levi came to Ashfield with his brothers Eli and Samuel from Yarmouth about
1777; he returned to Yarmouth to marry (1st) Tameson Sears; she died 24 Mar
1778 and is buried in Ashfield Plain cemetery; she was 20 yrs old.
He returned to the Cape to marry another Sears girl and all his children were
born in Ashfield by her;
Levi served in the Rev War in Capt Ephraim Jennings co, Col David Field's
Reg't from Ashfield; he and his wife Thankful are buried in Ashfield's Norton
Hill Cemetery; their son Lemuel who died of consumption at the age of 33 is
buried beside them.

S.P. May handnotes Stephen Sears was early at sea, and was a thorough
seafaring man. He was engaged in the fishing and coasting business during the War of 1812, was captured, shipwrecked, and encountered many reverses. During the War of 1812, he went to the Mediterranean with a cargo of fish. The Spaniards seized his vessel and cargo, but sent him to America, landing him near Wilmington, NC, to return home on foot.
