Dear Ray:

Today we buried my grandfather, Victor Sears. He was the son of Pearl
Oliver Sears who was the son of Oliver Trimble Sears. He was 80 years
old and had been married to my grandmother, Louise Elizabeth (Ashlock)
Sears for 63 years. He was survived by 6 daughters, 1 son, 16
grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

When I have a chance I will send you a copy of the sermon from his
service. But I knew you would want to know this news.

I thought that the sermon for my grandfather's funeral was fantastic.
It truly caught the essence of my grandfather's life. You may use it
for your newsletter, he would have liked that. Family was the most
important thing in his life.

Oliver Trimble Sears married Jane Powers and after Rosella May and Oscar

Pearl Oliver Sears was my Great-Grandfather. His son Victor Arthur
Sears provided the information regarding his uncles names. He had no
further information, told me that was my job.

Pearl Oliver Sears married Anna Blasa. They were married on 30 August in
1909 in Jersey County, Illinois. They had 5 children as follows:

Victor Arthur Sears is my Grandfather and he married Louise Elizabeth
Ashlock on August 30th in 1934 in Jersey County, Illinois. They had
nine children as follows:

Quite a crew and I have even more information that I could give you.
And maybe I will get it all in written form that I can mail to you.
Pray for snow that will give me time. I hope this clears up at least
part of my family. I never knew Pearl Oliver, he died before I was
born, however, I get reminded on a regular basis that I am alot like
him. I can tell you that from his picture, he could be a brother to
the "First" Richard Sears.

One other little footnote, my husband works with a man named Larry
Sears. Larry looks like Richard Sears too. His father has there family
tree mapped out and we hope to get together some time to see where they
cross. We do alot of "Mountain Man" camping together and are always
joking at the number of "Sears" descendants in the camp. My husband and
step-son are usually the only two that aren't.

During the Civil War he was a private in Co A, 134th IL Infantry, USV, became
commissary Sergeant and was mustered out in Oct 1864 to become 1Lt and
Regimental Quartermaster, 147th IL Infantry until 1865. The regt served in N
GA where he was an aid on Gen Judah's staff, Cdr 2d Separate Div.
