!S.P. May p.338 Stephen Sears removed from Sharon to Michigan in 1831-32, with a few hundred dollars in his purse, and located on govenrment lands in the township of Spring Arbor in Jackson co., worked hard all his life, improved his farm, and when he died left to his sons two as nice farms as there are in the State of Michigan, besides a round sum in cash. He was a very liberal and generous man; especially to the poor.

Robert D Kelley shows middle name Hull vice May's Hall Dr Sears studied medicine with Dr A Miller at Needham, MA, and was a member of the first graduating class in Medicine at New York university, Bellevue Hospital Medical School, New York, in 1879. In Dec 1881, he was appointed AA Surgeon in the United States Marine Hospital service which position he held while in Newport. He was also four years surgeon of the Newport Artillery Company, by appointment of Governor Whetmore, with the rank of major. He reomved to Yarmouthport where he continued in the field of medicine until he retired. (Hist of barnstable County; pg 243 by Simeon Dayo)
