2213. Silas Sears (Richard , Silas , Joseph , Silas , Richard ) was born 10 Feb 1781 in MA. He died 1 Apr 1830 in Orwell, Bradford Co, PA and was buried in gr-st, Town Cem'y.

S.P. may p.188 Silas rem with his parents to Hoosick, was a wagonmaker by trade
and a preacher in the Baptist Church. He is said to have removed to South-
western OH, married and had a family, but it is believed no sons.
May handnotes: Silas Sears emigrated with his parents to New York state, and
settled near Schoharie, where all his children were born. He removed to
Orwell, Bradford co, PA in 1829. He was a wagonmaker by trade, and a Methodist
in religion. His residence was near the Presbyterian church in Orwell. His
will dated 20 Feb 1830, & proved 30 APr 1830, names wife Sally, and daus. Mary
Ann, Betsy Gray, Elly & Emeline. His heirs preserve some relics, furniture,
books, etc., which belonged to their gr-father, Richard Sears.

Silas married Sally Roberts on 1801 in Brunswick, Rensellaer Co, NY. Sally was born 10 Mar 1781 in Albany, NY. She died 20 Sep 1855 in Dimock, PA.

2215. Abner Sears (Richard , Silas , Joseph , Silas , Richard ) was born 15 Jun 1787 in Prob MA. He died 22 Aug 1842 in Near Naples, IL.

S.P. may p.312 Abner Sears lived for a time in Rensselear, Schenectady and
Opstego counties, NY,working at his trade of wagonbuilder.
In the fall of 1818, he emigrated to Ohio, and settled in Yankeetown, Madison
township, Fayette co., and became a thrifty farmer, removing in the fall of 1836
to the vicinity of Naples, Morgan (now Scott) co., IL.
He was an honored member and exhorter in the Methodist church. His wife was a
woman of remarkable ability for planning wisely in the industrious and religious
cultivation of the family.
She is said to have been a second cousin to the late Maj Anderson, the hero of
Fort Sumter, and connected on her mother's side with the family of Richard
Stockton, signer of the Declaration of Independance.
