Silas Sears, Yeoman, resided in the East precinct of yarmouth, now Dennis, and was a prominent man there. His will dated July 28, 1727, " in ill health," was proved Nov. 29,1732, by Judah Paddock and Eleazar Sears, Execrs, and was witnessed by Peter Thacher, Joseph Hall and Edward Sturges. It mentions "wife Elizabeth; sons Silas, Thomas, Eleazar, and James; and daus. Sarah Hamlin,Phebe Buck, and Deborah Gray." The old homestead fell to Eleazar. He left R. Estate valued at L 1200, and personal do. L 299 3 7.

His will, dated July 11, 1755, was filed May 6, 1760; names wife Elizh. and children James, Silas, Moody, Eleazar, Mary Crowell, Hannah Kent, Elizabeth Sears, and Tabathy Sears. Wife Elizabeth and son Edward, Exrs. Eleazar had the homestead. John Nickerson of Yar., in his will, July 2, 1744, names daus. Elizabeth Sears, Mary Sears, and Patience Sears, three sisters married to three brothers.

Sears says Silas Sears removed to Rochester, Mass., but his name is not found in town or church records there, (prob. means No. 501) He was in Hardwick in 1765, and with his wife was admitted to church there, May 6,1770; he died in the adjoining town of Greenwich in 1780; was in Capt. Joseph Hooker's Co., Col. Ruggles Woodbury's Regt., Aug. 19 to Nov. 30, 1777, 175 miles travel, wages L 3 8 7; called "of Greenwich."
