Notes

!EPW p.21 Occup: Wood turnings. Although Amos and Louisa were Haddam families, their children were born at Cherry Valley, NY. The community prospered as one of the leading commercial centers on the principle route from New England to teh West until the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825. The loss of his wife and faltering economy were perhaps the reasons why Amos returned to Haddam to live out his life.
